Welcome to the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews, which gives bloggers the opportunity to connect with each other.
Today’s topic is things on our bucket list. Mine’s pretty small and the things listed here are mainstays. Here it is, brought to you in the best way: with help from George McFly from Back to the Future.
Have someone else read my writing
I haven’t even had my own family really read much of it aside from a few pages. Honestly, if I keep George McFlying (if you know, you know) my own stuff, how do I expect other people to actually read it?
Do the required tasks to get said work published
Once I actually get past the George McFly fear and consider said writing good, it’ll be time to query to agents, which will lead to rejections (it’s happened to the best of them). I’m hoping some agent out there will see my story and say, “I’d like to read your full manuscript” and “I’d like to offer representation.” I’m dreaming large.
Me to agents
Get published!
This is, without a doubt, the constant number one on my bucket list. I’ve imagined what it would be like so many times. I know what I have to do (hey, I’m writing again!) and now I have to do it.
Make more friends
To me, this is the hardest thing on the list. I just want to meet more people who will accept the social awkwardness.
Travel internationally more often
What’s this? A non-writing thing? Yes, I want more stamps in my passport. I dream of other countries, cultures, customs, foods, and experiences. If and when COVID-19’s been controlled (in as much as it can be), I want to make those trips happen.
Ready to see more of the world

This is a fantastic bucket list, and I hope you get a chance to do all these things! I would love to travel internationally, too. That’s a big one for me. Can confirm that having other people read your writing is terrifying, because once it’s out there, it’s no longer in your control. Getting published is also a loooong and daunting process. But I believe in you and your ability to do both things, in your own time. 🙂
I dream of someday publishing something I wrote and I have similar fears about doing it! This post is very relatable. I would like to travel, but my family doesn’t really have the health for much of that. There is always traveling in books. 🙂
Traveling in books is great, too!
A wonderful bucket list! The moment you’re published (and I know you’ll get there), please let us know! I’d love to support and spread the news. All the best!
Thanks, Mary! And I will let everyone know. ♥️

I relate to all of these! Writing, sharing your writing, and getting published can be scary! And I’d love to make more friends, too. 🙂
Glad I’m not alone on these. 😀
Just read a book, recommended by Berthold Gambrel, Close to Perfect by Kevin Brennan. Four published authors discussing the ins and outs of writing and getting published. They talk about the pros and cons of regular publishing or going indie. You might find it enlightening. http://pmprescott.blogspot.com/2020/07/wc-072920.html
Thanks for the recommendation, Patrick!
