The Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge is hosted by Long and Short Reviews. This is a way for fellow bloggers to mingle.
Today’s topic is about movies or TV shows we go to for a pick-me-up. I’m focusing on movies.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy

I’ve talked about my love for the LotR films and I will talk about it again. I watched the first movie 13 times in theaters. I haven’t done that for a movie since. These movies are like a security blanket; traveling with the Fellowship is like traveling with good friends.

Jurassic Park

I remember seeing this movie in the theater and being in complete awe over it. As a kid, I was impatient to get to the dinosaurs. Why do we want to see people when there are dinosaurs?! But when I watched it again, I really appreciated the time the film took to create characters to root for and a compelling plot. And the dinosaurs. I’ve seen this movie countless times and the scene where Dr. Grant, Dr. Sadler, Dr. Malcolm, and “the bloodsucking lawyer” see the brachiosaurus for the first time still makes me happy.

MULAN
For some reason, blogging from my laptop means not being able to copy and paste with ease. That’s not going to stop me for expressing my love for Mulan. Inspired by the legend of the girl who saved China from an invading army, I connected with this movie in a way I never had with others. It was my first time seeing a Chinese girl as a main character, and a heroine no less. I had never seen a socially awkward person as a main character before either. This version of Mulan will always have a place in my heart.

I love all of these movies too. 🙂
Yay! 😀
We’re huge fans of the Lord of the Rings trilogy too. And The Hobbit. Hubs is maaaaaad for them!
Alright! 😀
I love both those choices. Did you know there’s a live action Chinese version of Mulan? I keep meaning to watch it…
I don’t think the new Mulan’s been shown yet. I hope to see it soon.
I loved the Lord of the Rings series and my brother LOVED them! I loved Jurassic Park as a kid! It was the best dinosaur movie because they used actual palaeontologists on staff and used a mixture of robots and computer generated animi for the first time in movies. It was ground breaking. Jurassic Park is one of the only movies I bought a fair bit of the merchandise. I almost never have done that since.
My love for dinosaurs does play a huge amount into why I love Jurassic Park. I didn’t know they had actual paleontologists on staff!
Wonderful choices. I enjoyed all the movies listed. I’ll add one more Moana if a great feel good movie with a wonderful soundtrack.
Moana does have a wonderful soundtrack and great feel good themes.
I really enjoyed the LOTR movies! But Mulan is wonderful. Great choices this week!
My post
Thanks, Aymee!
I do love LOTR, though the first movie is the strongest, I think. I do tend to nod off a bit later on with Sam and Frodo and Gollum (oh, hey, they’re walking and Gollum wants the ring and Frodo is struggling…repeat as needed).
I really liked Mulan and I’m honestly excited, for the first time since they’ve started doing the live action remakes, to see the live action version. It looks amazing (though I will miss Mushu… “…dishonor on you, dishonor on your family, dishonor on your cow…”).
And… Jurassic Park… *sigh*. The first one was an honest to goodness masterpiece. I wasn’t fond of the sequels, though I AM enjoying the new “Lost World” movies with Chris Pratt more than I thought I would.
Ha ha, that is pretty much Two Towers in a nutshell. 😂 I’m excited but a little weary of the new Mulan movie, only because I haven’t enjoyed most of the other live action remakes aside from The Jungle Book. As for Jurassic Park, I kind of pretend the other movies don’t exist. 🤣
I tried the Lord of the Rings movies and wandered off part way. I’ll have to try them again. I’ve never seen Mulan. Must rectify that, too. Thanks!
Aww, it’s okay. 😀 But I recommend giving Mulan a watch.

I really need to watch Mulan one of these days!
My post.
You must, Lydia. It’s so much fun.
Mulan and Lord of the Rings both cheer me up so much. The music for both of them is so nostalgic too, and I think I know most of the dialogue from Mulan at this point! Really hoping they don’t mess up the live-action too badly.
Same, Catherine. I hope they don’t mess it up.
I love the LOTR. I watched Fellowship in the cinema three times and Two Towers four or five times. I only got to see Return twice. I have the DVDs and I watch them every New Year’s Eve. I absolutely love them.
Aww, that’s a wonderful New Year’s tradition.
LOTR is a great escape trilogy. It’s a weekend thing for us usually around a holiday. https://pmprescott.blogspot.com/2020/06/wc-062420.html
That’s cool! I would like to commit a day to watch the whole trilogy.
