Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish

I don’t know about you, but there are so many books on my summer reading list I don’t know how I’ll even get them to the beach, let alone how I’ll find time to read them all! Here’s a list of the top ten types of books that no summer book stack is completely without, and the books from each category I’m looking forward to reading this year.

1. The Highly Anticipated Sophomore Novel
What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick

2. The Dramatic Contemporary with a Twist
Life by Committee by Corey Ann Haydu

3. The Recommendation I Can’t Wait to Read
These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

4. The Light and Fun Contemporary Romance
The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes

5. The One We’ve All Been Waiting For
Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins

6. The Eye-Catching Fantasy Adventure
Gates of Thread and Stone by Lori M. Lee

7. The Heart-Wrenching Coming of Age Story
Lies My Girlfriend Told Me by Julie Anne Peters

8. The Too Cool for School John Green Style Novel
The Vigilante Poets of Selwyn Academy by Kate Hattemer

9. The Funny Chick Lit Travel Story
Wish You Were Italian by Kristin Rae

10.The One We All Knew I’d Read Eventually
A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin

  1. So, I will flat out admit that Game of Thrones’ size intimidates me a little bit! 😀 And yay for These Broken Stars! I really enjoyed it and I was so happy, because lots of times books don’t deserve the hype – it really did! Plus, that descriptive for Isla – A MILLION TIMES THIS!!! I can’t believe it’s finally here! SQUEE! 😀

I wasn’t sure about The Art of Lainey at first, but an episode of Epic Reads’ TeaTime persuaded me to add it to my TBR. I’m glad to see it’s got your approval too Nereyda!

Game of Thrones is the ultimate booklover’s summer read – long, larger than life, and famous enough that other beachgoers won’t be too surprised to find you reading it. I hope you enjoy These Broken Stars, Hollie!

It was actually Liza’s review that persuaded me to add These Broken Stars to my TBR, but since then I’ve heard a lot of great recommendations for it, so I’ll definitely be checking that one out soon.

Definitely! I wonder if the other gym members would notice if I started weightlifting books in preparation?
