Hi there my gorgeous readers! “This Book Changed My Life” is a new feature in Reading with ABC that I hope you’ll enjoy. Books have great power. They serve as a window into other worlds, they impart knowledge, entertainment, an escape from the every day, a shoulder to cry on, and much more. The purpose is to have book lovers explain how a book change their life in some significant way. That way is – of course – open to the reader’s interpretation.
Valerie is an avid reader and lover of all the contemporary reads, although I think I’m turning her into a fantasy lover as well 🙂 She’s a steady contributor here at Reading with ABC and I love to read her reviews. Here’s Valerie’s pick:
Karen’s School Bus by Ann M. Martin
What happens when you’re so excited about riding the school bus with the big kids for the first time that you actually get sick–in front of everyone? Karen finds out in this story.
Karen’s School Bus is about Karen, Kristy’s younger sister, as she rides the school bus with the “big kids” for the first time.
Unfortunately, she gets a little sick… in front of everyone. Not exactly what she was envisioning.
This, lovely viewers, was my first book that I chose to read. My very first one. Way back in second grade. The reason that I chose this book was the reason I did most things back then, I could be like my sister.
Jenni is three years older than me and was obsessed with The Babysitter’s Club series. Obviously, I wasn’t ready for that but I found a way to be like her and I loved it. I read all of these book (well, most of them) and I’m saving them all for my future children.
This was really my springboard into reading. Also, I’m not shocked that I STILL love contemporaries. 🙂
