On the outside, seventeen-year-old Madelyne Summers looks like your typical blond cheerleader—perky, popular, and dating the star quarterback. But inside, Maddie spends more time agonizing over what will happen in the next issue of her favorite comic book than planning pep rallies with her squad. That she’s a nerd hiding in a popular girl's body isn’t just unknown, it's anti-known. And she needs to keep it that way.

Summer is the only time Maddie lets her real self out to play, but when she slips up and the adorkable guy behind the local comic shop’s counter uncovers her secret, she’s busted. Before she can shake a pom-pom, Maddie’s whisked into Logan’s world of comic conventions, live-action role-playing, and first-person-shooter video games. And she loves it. But the more she denies who she really is, the deeper her lies become…and the more she risks losing Logan forever.

Oh my god this was such a cute, fun book! I don’t even know why I put off reading it for such a long time. The Summer I Became a Nerd is sweet, full of nerdy and geeky stuff, funny and romantic. A must-read for every nerd (whether you’re hiding it or proud about).

The Summer I Became a Nerd is about Madelyne Summers, also known as Maddie. On the outside she looks like your typical blond, popular cheerleader. She’s even dating the star quarterback. But inside, she’s thinking about the next issue of her favorite comic book series instead of pep rallies. She’s a nerd and nobody knows that. The only time when Maddie gets to be herself is the summer. But then she slips up and the adorkable guy of the local comic book store uncovers her secret. Logan introduces her to the world of comic conventions, live-action role-playing and more. And she loves it. But she can’t keep up this double life for long.

This was a very quick, fun and easy read! I read it in a few hours time and I loved it! I understand why Maddie would hide the fact that she’s actually a nerd. She’s afraid she’ll be bullied and all that and I get that! I’ve been where she was! But someday you get to that point where you say: “screw it! I’m a nerd and proud of it!” And it was fun seeing Maddie take up the courage to do just that along the course of this book. For me, she’s very relatable. As far as all the ‘hiding-your-nerdy-side goes anyway.

The romance was just so incredibly sweet! Of course it was predictable! But in some books you just don’t care! There were a few surprises along the way, but still. I adored Logan. Bad boys have their place, but I’m a sucker for sweet, genuine, adorkable guys. And Logan is just that. He works in his parents’ comic book store, which is an awesome job by the way, and he’s liked Maddie for years. Their relationship was just so cute and sweet and swoon-worthy!

That’s about all I have to say I think. Fun, sweet, romantic,… This book is all that and more. It’s just adorkable. And as a nerd, I understood almost all of the references, which is awesome. Being a geek or a nerd isn’t stupid, nerd rule the world! So be proud of it!
