Review
Seriously. With every book this woman writes, my heart suffers more! If she keeps this up, there’ll be nothing left when I’m 5 books further. And each new book becomes my new favorite! This will be in my top 14 at the end of the year. For sure.
Maybe Someday is about Sydney Blake. She’s in college, has a job, is in love with her wonderful boyfriend Hunter and rooming with her best friend Tori. And every day she goes out onto the balcony, listening to the musician playing guitar on his balcony. Everything changes when she discovers Hunter has been cheating on her with Tori for years. When she’s left with nowhere to go, the musician takes her in. His name is Ridge Lawson, he’s been in a serious writer’s block for weeks. Now he’s finally found his muse and they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one. This wonderful book is accompanied by a soundtrack that Colleen has made with musician Griffin Peterson.
This book took my breath away. it really did! It was so intense! But I guess I should’ve expected that. It is a Colleen Hoover book. Every new book of her instantly becomes my new favorite and ends up in my top 5 of that year. Last year Hopeless was number one and I’m sure this one will be too. It’s funny, witty, breathtaking, heartbraking, romantic, sweet, … I read a big part of this on the bus and there are now a few more people in the world who think I’m absolutely crazy. I was laughing, giggling, sobbing, crying, laughing again and then crying some more. God, my heart can’t take so many feels.
I was surprised how well the combination of the book with the songs worked! The songs were amazing and it was such a unique experience. I love them! I think this is one of those rare things that only Colleen can pull off. Colleen has a way of making everything seem so realistic and genuine! And only she can make a romance like this so perfect. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Like I said before, my heart can’t keep this up anymore. It’s not healthy!
One of the greatest things about Colleen’s books are the characters. The feel so real. And most of the time they could be friends of mine. I would love Sydney as a friend. She’s so sweet and talented and a little bit evil. Sure she has flaws, but I don’t care. I didn’t even bother remembering them because I love her so much. And Ridge! Oh my god Ridge! He’s so amazing! I can’t even begin to describe him. But I’ll try. In spoiler brackets because something about him was quite a surprise to me and I want you guys to be surprised by it too! View Spoiler » He’s so unique and loyal towards his friends and everyone he knows.
Colleen’s books always have great side characters too. I care about them and feel for them. I loved Warren and Bridgette (even though she’s a bitch) and Maggie. I hated Hunter and Tori, obviously. But at least Hunter has the decency to apologize. Tori doesn’t even call her. She gives up after a few texts. Pfft. That calls herself a best friend. I wanted to punch her too.
I feel like a broken record, but this is Colleen’s best work so far. The combination of the book with the music makes for a brilliant book with a breathtaking and heartbreaking romance. If you’re a fan of Colleen , you’ll probably love this book. If you love contemporary and you haven’t read anything from Colleen yet… Shame on you! Start with this one. Like yesterday! And make sure to have tissues ready.

Don’t hate me, but I haven’t read any Colleen Hoover books yet! *hides in corner* I’m definitely going to try this one, as I’m loving the sound of everything – especially the beautiful writing and the way music is incorporated. Thanks so much for sharing, and, as always, BRILLIANT review Bee! <3

Ah man I can’T believe I still haven’t read this one! I loved Hopeless so hard and I just know i would love this too. I love the song aspect, too, and it sounds like she crafted it in wonderfully. Great review, Bieke!

Thank you Giselle! The songs were pretty good actually. I really liked them. =)
Yay!! I love seeing 5-star reviews for this book. I just loved it SO much!! I actually listened to the audiobook of it. I absolutely adored the story AND the characters. The only thing that would have made the audio better was if the soundtrack was somehow incorporated. 😀 I know, I know… that’s way too much to ask. LOL Glad you enjoyed it!
