So Aentee tagged me for this book tag and, confession, I do not play pokemon go. Because 1) I don’t have the time for it and 2) I couldn’t get it to work properly. But I have played Pokemon before and I love it so I wanted to do this tag. So let’s start!

It’s a book by the Belgian author Patrick Lagrou called Het Dolfijnenkind, The Dolphin Child in English. It’s about a boy born in the caribbean in a dolphin lagoon. He and his mom go back to the caribbean after years and he has a very strong connection to the dolphins there. I had to read it for an essay at school and didn’t want to. But then I did and I fell in love with books.

I don’t read a lot of classics. But I guess Harry Potter can be considered one in a way, right? So HP it is. I re-read that series every year and I’ll always have a special place in my heart for it.

pokemon-tag-03-zubat

Well… I think that would be Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I know why people are excited for it, I’m just not. HP, like I mentioned above, has a special place in my heart. But it’s perfect the way it is. I don’t need any more of it. So yeah. Technically I didn’t lose interest because it’s everywhere, but it’s the closest thing I could think of.

Hmm, I think maybe Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard? I loved it despite its similarities to other Dystopian books. Though, to be honest, if I re-read it now, I don’t think I’d love it as much.

I’m gonna go with 1) More Than This by Patrick Ness and 2) A Court of Mist And Fury by Sarah J. Maas. They’re both huge. But unlike Patrick Ness, who hasn’t disappointed me yet, I kinda outgrew SJM and I’m scared to hate ACOMAF. It’s not fun being a black sheep. So yeah. Need to put on my big girl pants and check More Than This out in the library. BUT IT’S SO HUGE THOUGH.

pokemon-tag06-gengar

The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich. OH DEAR LORD THAT BOOK WAS SCARY. It literally kept me up at night. I had to put it in the freezer, okay??

pokemon-tag07-nidokingqueen

Ahahahaha yeah… Ahem. So I’m gonna say Simon & Blue from Simon VS, because OF COURSE. But also Simon & Baz from Carry On, Jessie & SN from Tell Me Three Things, Ollie & Moritz from Because You’ll Never Meet Me and Brandon & Abel from How To Repair a Mechanical Heart. And others probably. OH all the ships from Six of Crows and the Lunar Chronicles. Those too.

pokemon-tag08-rapidash

How about Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson? It was AWESOME. Yet I still have to read the rest of the series. TIME THOUGH. SO HARD TO FIND.

pokemon-tag09-eevee

The Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. I mean, look at Six of Crows. It’s THE BEST. I want more in that world!

pokemon-tag14-magikarp

Jackdaw and the Randoms by Stuart David. I went into that with no expectations and it was FANTASTIC. I loved it to bits. But also Don’t Get Caught by Kurt Dinan. Same story.

pokemon-tag12-legendary

The Illuminae series by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman. Yes, it might be a bit overhyped, but it’s so worth it because Illuminae was freaking fantastic. It deserves the hype. So gimme Gemina now!

pokemon-tag15mew-mewtwo

Ehhhh, I’m not familiar with collector’s editions.

pokemon-tag10-egg

I’m going with Whatever. by S.J. Goslee. Because it sounds awesome and I can’t wait to read it! Also, it’s an LGBT YA book so HUZZAH!

pokemon-tag11-lure-module

Becky Albertalli, Leigh Bardugo, V.E. Schwab, Jeff Zentner, Tim Federle, Marissa Meyer, Kelly Oram, Courtney C. Stevens, Jay Kristoff, Patrick Ness, Lisa Amowitz, Jessica Verdi, … Okay so that’s more than one… Oh well.

pokemon-tag13-server-down

Okay, so forever is a strong word. But waiting for a release can feel like forever even if it’s just a few months. So I’m going with Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. IT’S ALMOST HERE PEOPLE.

I’m tagging:

Ah, Pokemon! That was my jam in high school. πŸ˜€

One book I have been waiting on forever (and will probably never get) is the last book to L.J. Smith’s Night World series, Strange Fate. It’s been over fifteen years, and my hope dims a little more every year.
