Last year was rough. I had many health issues that got aggravated other issues. For instance, I had (and still have) and hip bursitis and also plantar fasciitis which are both painful and limited my physical activity. I also had three cortisone injections for these problems which raised my blood sugar.
Now, this is not a post for me to complaint and go on and on, but to share what I’m doing about it.
Managing my Weight
I’m overweight. I have a family history of diabetes and I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy, so being pre-diabetic is my own fault. I need to take better care of myself. Thus far I’m monitoring my carbs and I lost 15 pounds last year. As soon as I can actually exercise, I plan to walk to help the process along.
Re-learn What to Eat
Instead of bemoaning what I cannot eat, one of my goals is enjoy what I can eat. I’m using Pinterest to get ideas (see my Low Carb board) and recipes, and also a few magazines and books. I’m learning to cook a different meal for myself and not complain about it. I want to get excited about food!
Be an Example to my Kids
I want to be a good example for my kids and also show them that everything is possible if you set your mind to it.
