Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

Published by: Penguin

Release date: March 8th, 2016

She’s more gunpowder than girl—and the fate of the desert lies in her hands.

Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mystical beasts still roam the wild and barren wastes, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinni still practice their magic. But there’s nothing mystical or magical about Dustwalk, the dead-end town that Amani can’t wait to escape from.

Destined to wind up “wed or dead,” Amani’s counting on her sharpshooting skills to get her out of Dustwalk. When she meets Jin, a mysterious and devastatingly handsome foreigner, in a shooting contest, she figures he’s the perfect escape route. But in all her years spent dreaming of leaving home, she never imagined she’d gallop away on a mythical horse, fleeing the murderous Sultan’s army, with a fugitive who’s wanted for treason. And she’d never have predicted she’d fall in love with him…or that he’d help her unlock the powerful truth of who she really is.

What is my blogger reputation?

This is a quote from the email I received: “In a world where metal and magic clash with deadly consequences, Amani finds herself becoming a myth in the making, legendary for her sharp-shooting skills, more gunpowder than girl. So, inspired by Amani’s legendary skills and growing reputation, I would like you to come up with your own blogger reputation post, highlighting skills, behaviors, designs, or habits that you would be famous for in the blogosphere.”

First, let me say that I’m not famous in any kind of way (well, maybe some people are a big fan of my baking).  Hmmm…. This is a hard one!  Since I read so much fantasy, I’m inclined to say: “Reads all the Fantasies”.  However, since I seem to always be behind in my TRB list I think it will be “Takes All the Time to Read”.  I also tend to love girly-girly design and colors – as you can see by this wonderful new look (in that case Bee and Rach think the same way!) – “Blogger with the Pinkest Blog”

What do you think? Would you give me another name?

  1. You DO read lots of fantasy novels! Which is one of the reasons why we are friends. 😀 I’m doing this promo next week and I am not entirely sure what my reputation would be! I have a few ideas but none of them sound particularly clever. -_- So we’ll see!

    Lovely post, Liza!

What?! I always think of you like “the blogger with the best recommendations” or sharing “the blogger that reads the most books” with Nick 🙂

  2. Rebel of the Sands is just one of those books – the more I hear about them, the better they sound. And Cuturally Diverse Fantasy? Yes, please. This looks like a fabulous (and much-needed) tour!

I’m HORRIBLE with naming things! If I ever have a child, they’ll just go by NoName/John Doe/Jane Doe/hospital number for like seven years, while I ponder it. My poor NaNoWriMo characters always go through five name changes between the plotting-and-outlining stage and the actual writing. So I’m USELESS for this. I’m ever so sorry. 🙂 But Reads All The Fantasy sounds like a person I’d want to meet/high-five/read their blog posts. So that has my vote.

  3. This book sounds really good! 🙂 Haha I’m with you there Liza, I’m also always late to read the books on my tbr list, so by the time I get round to the popular books, the hype wave has totally passed without me. Since I always enjoy reading your reviews on your own Blog, I’d give you the title of “Blogger I trust to give me honest reviews”. 🙂

Thanks so much Catherine! That really means a lot 🙂 I guess that with so much to read is understandable to be late reading some books 🙂
