{Mirror Mirror} The January Bookish Wrap Up

Hello, everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve done a Mirror Mirror post, mainly because I like doing them when big things have happened. There are a lot of big things happening in the future but right now I’m going to try to do updates more often, at least for a monthly reading wrap up. Let’s see how long I manage. šŸ˜‰

My January was very eventful. I’m almost done with my draft of my book. It’s bittersweet knowing it’s almost done, but it’s going to be even better knowing I completed it.

Ever since I made the conscious decision to limit my phone usage, I have been reading on an excellent reading streak. There were a lot of books over different genres–from pictures books to adult fiction. I’ve reviewed several already, with two more in the works. I’m still debating whether or not to review a few more.

What I Read:

Sea Prayer by Khaled Hosseini

The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker

Dragon Pearl by Yoon Ha Lee (my review)

The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden (my review)

The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden (my review)

Vox by Christina Dalcher

In an Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire (my review)

The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan

The Stuff of Stars by Marion Dane Bauer, illustrated by Ekua Holmes

The Dragon with a Chocolate Heart by Stephanie Burgis

My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite

Book Haul

Thanks to Christmas gift cards, I was able to add a few new books to my shelf. This will be the last major book haul I do for this year as I try to limit my book buying. I’m trying to put a leash on consumerism in general. Not pictured are The Winter of the Witch and In an Absent Dream since I mentioned them earlier.

The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin

White Stag by Kara Barbieri (although I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews and my excitement for this one has dimmed now)

The Whispers by Greg Howard

A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi (could not resist getting a finished copy)

The Wicked King by Holly Black

King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo (because Yes. And now I am going to wrap up because I’m going to go read this book. šŸ™‚ )

Take care and wishing you all a beautiful February!

How was your January? What books did you read?

If/when you publish your book tell us what it is about, please? Congrats on finishing so many books. I finished only a few this month, being busy with school and stuff. I just finished “Thaw” by Elyse Spring (recommended with good own voice asexual rep.) , and I also read a graphic novel and a novella. Hope February is good.
