{Mirror Mirror} Liza’s Hippos, Roses, and Books

Mirror Mirror is our feature that replaces the old Stacking The Shelves/Weekly Recap posts. Bieke decided to make her own original feature because it was more than just a STS or recap post.

Life, News & Happenings

Hi there my gorgeous readers!  Looking back it’s been almost a month since my last Mirror post so bear yourselves for a lot of updates 🙂

Fist of, let me apologize for my lack of comments in the past few weeks.  I’ve been extremely busy and although I have been able to reply to comments, I haven’t been able to visit other blogs and repay your kindness and continued support.  I promise to do better!

My 17-year-old Brian got his driving license last week!  It’s a weird feeling for us (the parents), but and empowering feeling for Brian.  Given all his extracurricular activities, it is a relief not to have to taxi him around, but a feeling of helplessness for me since he’s out there in the big world my himself.  He also got his braces removed so he’s ready for his senior year in August.

Last week I was in Wisconsin for a work conference.  The weather was wet and cold, but I found something amazing (to us).  This Kinder Happy Hippo biscuits are something we enjoyed in Puerto Rico growing up, but my sister has been unable to find them anymore.  I saw them in World Market and got four boxes!  Now I have something else to look forward to when I go to Wisconsin next year.

I have two other professional conferences in June, but they are more local. I’m also presenting in one of them and getting ready for that.

I’m looking forward to Mothers day and getting some rest.  I’m also planing for my BEA trip and I already have my schedule ready.  Jachy and I are going to see Wicked and I cannot wait to go since I missed BEA last year.  I plan to fully enjoy this BEA since it is very likely that it will be my last.

The weather has been crazy in Maryland.  From a snow-less winter, we’ve gone to a not-warm spring.  My roses made an appearance but the poor things are looking the worse for wear now because of all the rain and wind.

  1. Hey hey, Liza! I’m glad to hear that you are doing well! I hate that I won’t see you for BEA – thank you again, for offering to get me on board with the trip. It won’t work out this year but maybe next year… although I think it’s going to be in Chicago next year? HMPH. *wrinkles nose* Well, at this point next year I’ll have slightly more money and 100% less school, so, there is that. 😀 Have a great time at BEA17!

I loved Flame in the Mist! It is 100% worth the hype and the pretty cover. I hope you enjoy it, and all of your new books!

Have a lovely week, Liza. =)

I plan to have a great time at BEA Alyssa, but it is likely I won’t be able to do next year. We always have the Baltimore Book Festival and other local signings. Now starts my slow-reading months… I came back from a business trip, I have BEA soon, then two more work conferences, and then family coming over in July… BUT I will get to it!

Happy Mother’s Day! I can understand that your son being able to drive is both liberating and terrifying. I hope you enjoy your books.

  3. The weather around here has been colder than usual too (I’m in PA). It looks like it’s going to get much warmer next week tho so I’m looking forward to that. So many great looking new books! Wild Beauty has such a pretty cover. I hope you enjoy all of your new reads, and congrats to your son for getting his license! I could definitely see how that would be exciting but also really nerve-wracking for you. lol! My daughter is only 4 right now so I won’t have to worry about that for a little while. lol! Hope you have a great weekend, and a wonderful mother’s day!
