Hi, happy March, everyone.
Where do I begin? I disappeared for most of February, but in the long run I’m glad I stepped away from blogging. I could tell you all the reasons why: health, work. The main reason though is that I was getting overwhelmed by blogging.
When I first joined QtNI, I was bursting with ideas for blog posts and discussions. I had finally found an outlet for my love of books! It was fun talking to fellow bibliophiles. I’ve enjoyed talking with you all about different things. I took over blogging duties at QtNI full time last year. It’s been a learning experience. Over time though, I noticed I was only posting Top Ten Tuesday lists and reviews sporadically. I didn’t have any discussion ideas. I was getting discouraged by my blog visit numbers. I was doing a horrible job commenting on fellow bloggers’ posts that caught my attention. What could I do to keep the blog interesting? Was I failing as a blogger? It was really eating away at me, and I had to do some major self-reflecting and prioritizing. I decided to step away from Quite the Novel Idea.
I realized that, as with many things, I can’t worry about things that are beyond my control. This is a hobby, for-fun blog first. If I only do my Top Ten Tuesday list and a review, that’s okay because that works for me. I can still catch up with comments when I have a moment. The only thing I can work on is moving forward. Where else am I going to talk about my love of books? 🙂 And I did read a few books from all genres. Many were excellent! I’m going to sprinkle in a few book reviews from genres aside from YA because I want to expand the boundaries of the blog. I hope you’re as excited for this as I am.
Thanks for reading.
