Sixteen-year-old and not-so-openly gay Simon Spier prefers to save his drama for the school musical. But when an email falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being thrust into the spotlight. Now Simon is actually being blackmailed: if he doesn’t play wingman for class clown Martin, his sexual identity will become everyone’s business. Worse, the privacy of Blue, the pen name of the boy he’s been emailing, will be compromised.
With some messy dynamics emerging in his once tight-knit group of friends, and his email correspondence with Blue growing more flirtatious every day, Simon’s junior year has suddenly gotten all kinds of complicated. Now, change-averse Simon has to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before he’s pushed out—without alienating his friends, compromising himself, or fumbling a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy he’s never met.

All right, so what do I have to add that hasn’t been said about this wonderful book already?
Nothing…
…Except just repeat it all over again.
So it’s taken me a long time to actually read this book, but my bestie Bee from Quite the Novel Idea, told me so many times to read it because it was totally worth it. And you know what? SHE WAS COMPLETELY RIGHT!!! There I said.
She was right and I was wrong in waiting so long to read this book, because it was just a wonderful read. It sucked me right in from the first page to the last one and I loved Simon and Blue. And of course all his friends, Nick, Abby and Leah!
Also I would like to state that I figured out who Blue was, waaaaay before my bestie did when she read the book for the first time!! 😀 Muhahahahaha!
So about the story: it’s light, fluffy and makes me want to hug Simon to death. Also Martin Addison is on my shit list, for like, forever. Apology or no, what he did was just a huge ass NO NO!! A really decent person wouldn’t have done it, which is why I will never like him! EVER!!!
Now for my next line, I will probably get shot for this, by die-hard fans (including my bestie 😛 ) I do not like Oreos. BUT …. yes there is a but people, when reading this book, I was completely craving the damn things. And luckily my brother had some stashed away, so I nicked them and ate them while reading. And you know what? I still don’t like Oreos, but eating them while reading Simon, just makes sense!
So my advice to future readers of this adorable book: Do so with Oreos at hand!
Now everyone go bow at the feet of the Goddess of Cuteness and Oreos, Becky Albertalli. Because she totally deserves it! And I hope she’ll write another book like this one day in the future and then I will read it the moment I get my hands on it! NO MORE WAITING!!! 😀
That’s it for my review of Simon VS the Homo Sapiens Agenda. And to anyone who hasn’t read it yet: GET OF YOUR ASSES AND READ IT DAMN YOU!!!! 😛
