Trapped within the cruel world of hormones and bullies, fifteen-year-old Aiden is convinced life has more to offer him. His instincts are proven correct on the night he is awakened by a voice calling to him from outside his window. As he sleepily peers into his yard, his eyes slowly focus on a woman who says she is there to take him to Eden. Aiden is about to fulfill the life purpose he never knew he had.

It is in Eden, a land on the brink of war, where Aiden will finally learn to trust himself and those around him. Accompanied by Wolf, his sidekick Logan, and the beautiful archer, Elisa, Aiden is soon thrust into a battle to save Eden. Meanwhile Elisa, the only girl in the King's Army, is in the midst of her own struggles. Betrothed to a man she has no intention of marrying, Elisa is caught between the need to prove herself and her desire for true happiness. And now that she has met Aiden, she is more confused than ever.

In this action-packed fantasy tale, romance, adventure, and intrigue surround Aiden as he learns just what he is capable of when he discovers confidence and courage.

4 Stars

I loved this book! Eden is such a lovely read. I just couldn’t get enough of it. I love Janelle Stalder, her writing style, character development and amazing POV changes are absolutely incredible!! It’s been a while since I’ve read a book written by an author that could pull it off as flawless as Janelle Stalder can.

The story is actually about fifteen-year-old Aiden, who is kinda dorky in the beginning of the story, if you think about it. And one night he gets sucked into the world of Eden where he has this big purpose to fulfill. Once there he becomes friends with the archer Elisa (who is badass!!), Wolf (*swoon*), Logan and Felix. He gets trained to help fight in the war against Brutus the Red, the traitor Prince Callum (*swoons even more*) and the feared sorcerer Aziz. Towards the end of the book I had a very big “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO” moment. I mean, c’mon, how could you do that to Felix? And then the ending itself, God I could cry, I can’t believe Stalder left it like that. It’s maddening, I wanted to know what happened next right away! Oh well, I’ll just buy the second book and read it, but still *pouts* I am not happy with the ending, not sir, not at all. Just … no.

And the characters! Oh the characters. I think I’m in love with Wolf and Callum. Not that I don’t like Aiden, but Wolf is just so funny, sexy and the biggest flirt you’ll ever meet, but he just has that certain charm that makes me swoon and sigh and I loved that. And then there is Callum, OMG do I need to say more? I picture him as this ruggedly handsome man who appears cold and dangerous, but in private he’s so courteous and gentle. And I just couldn’t stop sighing like a love-sick puppy when I read about the growing romance (is it too early to call it a romance?) between him and Rose. And I really could care less that he’s on the “bad side” (note the quote marks -_-), he’s just deliciously yummy and I love, love, love him!

As I said before, Stalder’s writing is superb! The editing done on this book is almost perfect. There isn’t a better word for it. It just is really amazing. I enjoyed this story so much. I am definitely going to re-read the book sometime in the future, because it sucked me right in from the very first page. It’s just … wow. This book is also the biggest example I can find for the saying “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” because while the cover may not be all that pretty, the story is definitely worth reading and shouldn’t be overlooked! This book more then deserves the 4 stars I gave it (I would have made it 5, but the ending annoyed me).
