Bookish Babble: less reading, more writing and a new look!

Posted April 1, 2014 by Bee in Memes & Features / 4 Comments

Bookish Babble is a feature created by me, Bieke. In these posts I talk about bookish topics (sometimes not so bookish…) and ask for your opinion on the matter! I love hearing from you guys and I love discussion topics, so in these posts I’ll just talk about what comes to my mind and hope you’ll give your opinion. If there is something you want to talk about here on Bookish Babble, fill out the contact form on this page.

Less reading and more writing!

So a week or two ago I told you guys I wanted to take a break of blogging because I felt like I was falling in a slump. I’m happy to tell you guys I feel a lot better now, my slump is over and I got back to reading! BUT… There’s a but. There’s always a but.

I’ve always tried to do as many reviews as I can. Sometimes 4 or 5 per week. But I can’t do that anymore. I don’t want to read that much anymore. I just can’t do it on my own. I’ll still try to post as much as I can, of course.  So what will you get?

~ At least 1 review per week, but no more than 3.
~ More Bookish Babble! I noticed you guys like discussion posts, so I’m doing more of those! If you have a bookish topic or a question you want to talk about, you can submit that here.
~ More personal posts. I got great comments on my post on how I met my boyfriend, so I’ll keep you guys updated on my personal life too!
~ Waiting on Wednesday & Stacking the Shelves. These two memes are the only ones I do each week and I’ll keep doing them because I like those. I love featuring books I’m waiting for and sharing which books I added to my shelf. Of course, if there’s a week where I didn’t get any books, there won’t be a post.
~ Updates on my writing! Yes, I’ll keep you guys updated on my writing because I just want to do that.
~ Series endings specials! YES! This one I’m very excited about. There are several series where I haven’t reviewed the other books yet, so I’m going to do the same as I did with the Lunar Chronicles for Cress (even though that wasn’t the last book). Basically I’m going to re-read those other books and review them. And then I read the new (last) book and review that one. Cover to cover. I really liked doing that for the Lunar Chronicles when Cress came out so I’m going to do that again for series like The Selection by Kiera Cass for sure. Or if I have read the other books already, I’ll just make up something else to do. A giveaway or something like that? Don’t know, but looking forward to that!

The writing is the reason I can’t do that many reviews anymore. I could, but then I don’t have any time left to work on my book. So I’m going to read less books in order to be able to write more! I’m going to publish my book under the name Nelly B. Jones and I have an author profile on Goodreads and a page on Facebook. So if you’re in a good mood, hop over to those pages in a minute and maybe like them? Or become a fan. Whatever. All the same. You don’t have to of course.

So yeah, less reading, more writing, because I’m never going to be able to finish this book if I keep reading this much. But that means that I’m not going to accept as much books for review anymore. I’m going to read and review the ARC’s I have (and will receive in the future) closer to release and I’m not going to do blog tours anymore. I have 3 this month and after those, I’m going to put Blog Tours on hold for now. Writing a book is a lot of work, you know! Haha. But it really is.

A new look!

Yeah, as if you haven’t noticed that. I wanted a new look for my blog and I did my best on it. 😛 Luckily I have the awesome Tweak Me theme from Creative Whim, which is super customizable and makes it able for me to change a lot without messing with CSS and HTML codes. I really like the new look, but if I could,  I’d buy a custom design from Ashley (Creative Whim & Nose Graze) immediately. I can’t, so this will have to do. What do you guys think about it?
