5 YA Series I Should’ve Read Ages Ago

So over the years that I’ve been blogging, there have been a few series that kept popping out at me. And people telling me to read them. But for some reason, I never got to any of them! There are more than I’d like to admit, but these 5 are the ones I’ve seen the most. In no particular order:

1. The Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima

Now, I have started this series next month because I got Flamecaster, the first book of the spin-off series, from Edelweiss. So I may be a bit late to the party, but I’m here at last! I’ve read book 1, The Demon King, which I enjoyed. And I will read the rest of the series after NaNoWriMo.

2. The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

Yes, yes I know. I should’ve read these ages ago too. And I will! I should dedicate a month to all these series… The last book in the series (I think) comes out next year, so perhaps I’ll read the other three before that one comes out! Though now with all the drama around the author, I am reconsidering it…

3. The Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness

After reading The Rest of Us Just Live Here, I was convinced I was a stupid moron for not reading this guy’s books earlier. Especially the Chaos Walking trilogy, of which I’ve heard so much praise. I will read this. I promise!

4. The Graceling Realm by Kristin Cashore

The main thing I hear about this series is how badass Katsa is. I love a strong heroine. Why haven’t I read this yet?

5. Percy Jackson & the Olympians by Rick Riordan

I KNOW! Don’t tell me. It’s almost a crime I haven’t read this yet. I’m not big on mythology, okay? That’s why I haven’t read it yet. But I will. Some day. XD Especially since I loved The Sword of Summer!

Is there any other series that I should have read already according to you? Or are you like me and you haven’t read one of these yet either?

  1. You NEED Chaos Walking in your life. For real. Now- The Knife of Never Letting Go starts out… weird. I almost DNFed. BUT! I listened to a friend (she told me she would pay me the money I’d paid for the books if I didn’t like them hahha) and continued, and holy CRAP! Mind blowing! I also liked The Raven Boys, so I will be continuing that series for sure! The others… well I am in the same boat as you 😉

  2. Omg well you know how much I’m loving The Demon King. :’) The Exiled Queen is in the mail for me now and I’M SO RIDICULOUSLY EXCITD. *hyperventilates* I borrowed The Warrior Heir from the library while I wait (it’s still a fantasy, but not in the same world, I don’t think??) And it too me till this year to read ANYTHING by Rick Riordan. And now I’ve read 12 of his books and adore them all. :’)
I need to finish the Katsa books and the Chaos Walking books too.

  3. Obviously, I love the Seven Realms series. The Percy Jackson series is great too.

Graceling and Fire are outstanding! I haven’t read Bitterblue yet though.

Now we come to the Raven Cycle… I adore this series, but then again, I’m a big fan of Stiefvater. I will read anything she writes. I cannot tell you how anxiously I’ve been waiting for this last book (it was originally supposed to come out in September!)

    Great post Bee!

  4. I started the Cinda Chima Williams series with Rashika last year I think and I liked it but we haven’t had a chance to finish it yet. I need to go bug her about it!!
And yes! The author for Raven Cycle makes me not want to read the books. She can be irritating … If the last book ends well I might give it a try!
And why have you not read Graceling?!?!?!?! We can’t be friends until you read it …

  5. I’ve only read the last two, Bee. I wasn’t a fan of PJO (but then again, I seem to be the only one ever) but the Graceling Realm series is FANTASTIC BEYOND MEASURE. They have my highest recommendations! Po = <3.
