HELLO GUYS! I am so excited today. As you can see, I’m part of the blog tour for this fantastic book. I’ve read it and it’s AH-MAY-ZING! You can read my review here.
As Kell learns in this book, it’s dangerous to linger, so V.E. Schwab only has time to answer ONE question and one question only on each stop. So first I’ll go over the book info very quick, then I’m asking her my question and then guys, there’s HUGE giveaway. So don’t linger here! Go ahead and read the rest! Welcome… To Red London!

Kell is one of the last Travelers—rare magicians who choose a parallel universe to visit.
Grey London is dirty, boring, lacks magic, ruled by mad King George. Red London is where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire. White London is ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne. People fight to control magic, and the magic fights back, draining the city to its very bones. Once there was Black London - but no one speaks of that now.
Officially, Kell is the Red Traveler, personal ambassador and adopted Prince of Red London, carrying the monthly correspondences between royals of each London. Unofficially, Kell smuggles for those willing to pay for even a glimpse of a world they’ll never see. This dangerous hobby sets him up for accidental treason. Fleeing into Grey London, Kell runs afoul of Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She robs him, saves him from a dangerous enemy, then forces him to another world for her 'proper adventure'.
But perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, Kell and Lila will first need to stay alive — trickier than they hoped.
Question: I’m a big fan of your books because of your unique writing style and the original and amazing stories you create. My question is, where do you get the inspiration for your novels?
Slowly, and then all at once. I collect fragments of a story over time, piecing it together until one day it all just…clicks. There’s usually an event, a catalyst, but it wouldn’t work if I hadn’t let the ideas shift and solidify in my mind. Because of this, I’m a big believer in “back burner time” or the time you let your brain mull over things, connect pieces you can’t see. With ADSOM, I knew I wanted to write a book about magic, and alternate versions of London, but the story didn’t click until one day I thought of a boy walking through a wall and running into a girl, who then picked his pocket 😉

Of course I’m excited! I read a preview of it about a month ago and I absolutely loved it! It’s really unique and the writing is just gorgeous. And it comes out the day before my birthday :3
Twitter: Bieke Paesen
Nice! 😀
I LOVEEEEE Victoria’s answer when you asked her about where her inspiration comes from! I’m writing my first manuscript for a novel and at the moment, I’m still planning it all out and in my own “back burner time”. It makes me feel a lot better and more comfortable knowing that she creates ideas and forms her plan for her books the same way I do. =)
Twitter: Bieke Paesen
I do the same. 🙂 At this point I’m not on a schedule so I can write whenever I have inspiration!
I WANT it! I NEED it! Everybody who’s read has said only great things about it and I cannot wait to be one of those people! 🙂
Twitter: Bieke Paesen
I know! I had high expectations and it delivered! 😀
It’s really inspiring to see Schwab’s answer here! I want to be a writer, but it has always been hard for me to think of something to write about. I always get insecure and I keep thinking, “This has already been done before. I don’t want to do something that has been done and is even probably even inferior.” But it’s nice to know that she takes time, too! She’s such an awesome author I had thought everything just comes easily to her. I guess the secret is to not rush it and wait for the right idea to come to you!
Twitter: Bieke Paesen
That’s what I did. 🙂 Eventually a story will come! Mine started in a dream.
Great question! I love how she said somehow it just clicks. I can’t wait to read this book. Off to read your review. 🙂
Twitter: Bieke Paesen
Thank you! And I know the feeling she talks about all too well!
